Why choose McKay Studio?
My goal is to help students enjoy, understand and develop a lifetime love of music. I believe in fostering confidence and inner creativity while teaching advanced technical skills and theory. Students learn to develop a focus on detail, a study ethic and ultimately be inspired to bring out the best in themselves.
As a nationally certified teacher of music with a concentration on pedagogy and over 20 years of teaching experience, I try to adopt and present information around the individual student (no matter at what level) in a way that the student learns best.
I enjoy teaching and realize the importance of balancing fun with concise instruction. I am also dedicated to continuous learning for myself.
It is important to me to always exude patience with a positive and nurturing atmosphere, and I try to never have a student leave my studio feeling frustrated or defeated. I try to leave students with the skills to practice on their own at home.
I am flexible with helping students to set their own individual goals; I can prepare them for further studies either at the University level or for their own personal enjoyment at home.
I am also flexible with offering FaceTime lessons when parents can't make it to a lesson. We have one to two Group Classes per semester and two (optional) performances per year.
